Increasingly popular as a MICE destination, we explore Courmayeur ahead of Connections Meetings.

At the foot of Mont Blanc (Monte Bianco), and overlooked by the Matterhorn (Mont Cervino), Monte Rosa and a few of Europe’s other highest peaks, lies the exclusive ski resort of Courmayeur in Valle d’Aosta.

However, the mild climate of the summer months also lends itself well to other kinds of adventures. Hiking, paragliding, mountain biking and ballooning are just a few of the “60 different experiences available in the region”, says Andrea Tassini, co-founder of local DMC, Allure Alps.

“Whether winter or summer, there is something for everyone.”

Experts in mountain experiences, Tassini and his team recommend that visitors try sleeping in a castle, climbing down a crevasse, flying over the Matterhorn, dining in a gourmet restaurant at 3,000m or skiing down the 21km ski slope.

Courmayeur - skiing and heli-skiing

It is easy to understand Courmayeur’s appeal to families and young, adventurous couples seeking a holiday outdoors given the nature and range of activities available. More recently however, there has been a noticeable growth in meetings and incentive groups heading to the mountains. After opening in 2015, Allure Alps saw the potential for corporate trips to the region, and quickly opened their MICE division. Now core to their business, the team works with top brands, including Chanel, P&G, BNP, Sanofi and Mont Blanc, to create tailor-made experiential events.

When asked about the most memorable experience they’ve created for a client, Andrea reminisces on a glamping trip which took 190 people to stay in igloos in the woods.
