Hello again dear reader — it’s me, Micaela, here in Abu Dhabi. My feet haven’t touched the ground since I blogged yesterday about our crazy schedule. We’re here in the capital (and largest city) of the United Arab Emirates to plan for our upcoming Connections Luxury Abu Dhabi event taking place on 6-9th September this year.
We left our host hotel for the event, the superb Yas Viceroy, to check out a series of different activities that we’re considering for inclusion in the main agenda of the event. In the photos below you see me trying to figure out how to match the impressive skills of an expert palm leaf weaving artisans.

Or, more accurately, she was trying valiantly to help me grasp the technique. It really was fascinating.
I really appreciated the time she spent with me explaining and demonstrating. She was, I must add, very, very patient!
We’re looking at including activities such as these as Connections Experiences to enable our delegates to change the dynamic away from a traditional sit-down business meeting, to something altogether more powerful. Using your hands — and your brain — at the same time requires a slightly different approach that we don’t ordinarily experience in day-to-day business life. The underlying concept being that our delegates will develop much greater, deeper relationships through these shared experiences.
