Andalucia's Anantara Villa Padierna Palace embodies modern luxury with its hotel-museum hybrid concept.

Andalucía is a region of hidden treasure. Housed in a pink-hued Tuscan palace in the aptly named “Golf Valley” – with three award-winning golf courses in its midst – this property is moments from the beach, and within easy reach of Marbella, the mountain village of Benahavís and the charming town of Estepona.

The experience-led Anantara hotel brand offers an elegant, romantic sanctuary filled with unique touches. The entire building is littered with antiques, sculptures, pottery and decorative pieces from the owner’s private collection – it really is like staying in a museum.

More than 1,200 artworks line the property’s walls, some dating back to the 1st Century AD.

“Anantara was born in response to discerning travellers seeking luxury with a sense of indigenous discovery,” says Maria Gonzalez, communications manager for Anantara Villa Padierna Palace. “We’ve designed a portfolio of experiences that revisit the history of Andalucía and its culture.”

The property enlists “gurus” to help guests connect with the destination on a deeper level through unforgettable experiences. These include flamenco dancing workshops, guided hiking and rafting around beautiful Benahavis, and tours of nearby Roman and Moorish relics.

The hotel’s 2,000sq/m Roman Bath-themed spa – inspired by the region’s roots – has won a slew of awards. And for weddings, it’s possible to have a ceremony in a breathtaking Roman amphitheatre, or on the hotel’s palm tree-fringed beach.
