Fresh off their site inspection in Switzerland, Evangeline and Linda made their way to Slovenia to make preparations for Connections Adventure – our new event series launch for October 2018.

And they certainly had an action-packed couple of days test-driving the experiences we have in store…

Evangeline and Linda were greeted by the lovely Mlladen from Slovenia Tourist Board (our country partner) and Mattej and Matej from Luxury Slovenia (our official destination management company, experience provider and groundhandler) who whisked them off to their first stop – Slovenia’s world-famous Lake Bled.

The weather was perfect, so they went for lunch at Lake Bled castle – a treat that those joining our post-trip fam tour will experience for themselves. The views from here are heavenly! During the event, delegates will have the option to take part in activities on and around the lake – including rowing, exploring bike trails and hiking with their meeting partners.

Evangeline and Linda explored Ljubljana on foot, soaking up the summery atmosphere of the Slovenian capital’s al fresco restaurants. They also stopped by Ljubljana Castle, which has an amazing set-up for events, having updated the original 15th-century structure with modern facilities, yet keeping its character.

They were treated to a delicious meal at fine-dining restaurant, JB restaurant, and met with Tatiana from Ljubljana Tourism, who will be putting on some experiences in the city for delegates who arrive in Slovenia early –  such as boat rides and city tours – as well as some of the experiences on offer during the first morning of meetings during the event.

Lipica Stud farm is a true icon of Slovenia. It’s the only place in the world that breeds this breed of beautiful gray horse, which are used in the Spanish Riding School of Vienna. During Connections Adventure, there are so many possibilities for experiences here – including grooming and riding the horses, archery, and meetings inside the stunning barn.

Evangeline and Linda also travelled to Gostilna pri Lojzetu – Dvorec Zemono a famous wine lodge and hunting estate where they met with the charismatic chef, Tomas, who also makes his own gin  – one of the top eight gins in the world. They were lucky enough to sample the some of Tomas’s creations – including gin and tonic-themed desert. Slovenia’s national cuisine is truly something special – and we’re delighted to be able to showcase some of the best of it during the event.

The next stop with the event’s host hotel, Intercontinental Ljubljana, where the team met the lovely Sarza and Jeanette to discuss the dinner and set-up for the opening reception of Connections Adventure in Slovenia. The hotel is housed in the tallest building in Ljuljana, and its roof terrace, offers 360-degree views – a stunning spot for drinks.

Evangeline and Linda then travelled by train to Postojna Cave, the biggest limestone cavern system in Europe. Exploring it on foot makes for a fun afternoon, and it’s also possible to host dinner and drinks inside – the acoustics would be perfect for some live music.

The final stop for our dynamic duo was the ski resort of Krvavec. During Connections Adventure, we’re hoping host part of the event inside a cable car – be it part of a lunch, or some one-on-one meetings. It’s possible to travel up by ski lift to a beautiful setting for lunch, where we’re hoping to also organise experiences such as nordic walking.

We’re unbelievably excited to be creating our new event series, it’s all coming together beautifully thanks to our partners in Slovenia – delegates are going to be blown away by their creativity and ability to think outside the box. Bring on October!
