Over the course of Connections Luxury 2019, held this year in Málaga, flexibility, wellness, authenticity and infrastructure were all identified as key trends set to shape the future of the luxury travel industry in coming years.
Helen Beck, Vice President International Sales and Marketing of Crystal Cruises spoke of the importance of flexibility when it comes to luxury travel. This was high on the agenda as many of the ‘working wealthy’ are looking for shorter luxury travel options that can be tailored to a busy lifestyle. Seven-day cruises and access to business facilities on board were identified as important factors influencing sales.
Wellness and authenticity also remain top of the agenda in luxury travel with buyers looking to offer their customers limited edition life experiences that are unique, memorable and unforgettable yet shaped with the travellers holistic health and wellness needs in mind.
Investment in infrastructure was also identified as a key trend shaping luxury travel in Málaga with Francisco Quereda, Director of Málaga Convention Bureau discussing the positive affects of the recent refurbishment Gran Hotel Miramar and it’s impact on luxury tourism in Málaga. The property has received significant interest from luxury travellers following its reopening in 2017.
Marta Escribano, General Manager of Villa Padierna Palace Hotel comments: “It was a pleasure to host Connections Luxury for the second day of their event and showcase our facilities to them. Málaga remains the closest port to our hotel here in Marbella and it’s so wonderful to see this city receive the recognition that it deserves after so much investment in it’s cultural and luxury tourism offering.”
Arienne Orozco, Travel Advisor, HIATUS added: “This unique method really did work to help me establish wonderful relationships – some friendships even – with suppliers. Between the casual dress code, the fun activities offered, and the small, manageable number of attendees, it all came together to work better than any other conference I’ve attended.”
