Last week, David and Alex from the Connections team attended Boss Hunters in Madrid – an event that connects employers (bosses) with potential employees (hunters).
As Connections’ buyer manager, Alex attended as a boss, and also to share his own story of “boss hunting” outside of Spain, which began his career in London.
At the event, José Luis Abajo – aka El Pirri – the Spanish pro-fencer who brought home a bronze medal from the 2008 Olympics in Beijing gave a really moving motivational speech.
And then, in a session moderated by our very own David Benitez, Alex was in the hot seat!
Alex shared his experience of moving to London for work, the challenges – such as being away from friends and family, as well as the initial language barrier – and the highs, including the skills and life experience he’s gained.
Alex’s story is a testament to what can happen when you have the guts to go out into the world and find opportunities in new places. We’re certainly happy that he took the plunge!
It was also great to have two members of the Connections team speaking as leaders at an event about experience-based networking – something we certainly know a thing or two about!
