Yesterday I received the most amazing and thoughtful gift for Connections’ third anniversary from a very good friend, industry colleague and founding member of Connections, Rob Sinclair Barnes, Strategic Marketing Director for Amadeus Airlines.
Did you know that leather is the official material that marks a third anniversary?
Well, yesterday, Rob presented me with a beautiful tan leather key ring, embossed with the latitude and longitude of the place in Abu Dhabi where he and I first started talking about the embryonic idea of Connections – right here!
Not only that, the key ring came presented in a gorgeous colourful box featuring a pattern of a phoenix rising from the ashes. Rob chose this as a symbol of me leaving my secure job and being “reborn”, so to speak, to build something unique and new with Connections.
I was taken aback by the amount of thought and creativity Rob put in to this extremely personal gift – but that’s typical of Rob. He’s been by my side from the very beginning, supporting me, brainstorming, and supporting Connections from the go.
And now, I will carry this key ring with me everywhere, and be reminded of how it all started.
Rob, thanks again for everything! It’s thanks to friends like you that Connections continues to thrive.
