Last week, senior buyers and suppliers from the luxury travel industry met in Phuket for the second Asian edition of Connections Luxury.
Delegates bonded during 40-minute meetings while enjoying activities like Thai boxing, foot massages and macaroon making, and admiring the facilities of the Dream Phuket Hotel and Spa and Iniala Beach House.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand treated attendees to an exquisite cooking session and dinner at the world-famous Blue Elephant restaurant, and some show stopping evening entertainment with traditional dancers and thrilling fire poi performers.
Vlogger and philosopher Jay Shetty gave a truly inspirational talk on how brands can stay human in a digital age, and use social media more inventively to build relationships with their customers.
In addition, Amadeus hosted open air roundtable discussions, where delegates shared their views on Connections’ recently launched report, Shaping the Future of Luxury Travel, sponsored by Amadeus.
In groups, they debated which of the six Luxury Traveller Tribes identified in the report were the most challenging for their business, and shared their strategies for serving high-touch and low-touch travellers (who prefer different levels of contact from their travel providers). The Connections team will be collating the outcomes from these discussions and circulating the key findings the near future.
We really appreciate the input from all of you who were interviewed for the Shaping the Future of Luxury Travel report, and those who contributed to the roundtable discussions Connections Luxury events.
We welcome any comments you may have on the report, and we hope you find its insights into luxury travel patterns and the potential for future industry collaboration useful.
