Remembering Constanza Ibarra of Buenos Aires

We have recently learnt the sad news of Constanza Ibarra’s passing away. Here at Connections we feel honoured to have known her in her various roles over the years, as Tourism Manager of Meetings of the Tourism Entity of the City of Buenos Aires and MICE Manager at Buenos Aires Tourist Board as well as a valued member of ICCA, Site and UFI.

She was and will continue to be, a true inspiration to the team here at Connections as well as the wider meetings and luxury travel industries, most notably for her energetic, passionate and knowledgeable approach to everything that she did.

Our Head of Business Development, David Benitez, who worked closely with her on a number of projects recalls,

‘Constanza stood out to be enthusiastic and connected with everyone! She was very approachable and easy to get along with. She will be missed’.

Constanza was instrumental in bringing our Connections Meetings event to Quito in 2017, and her enthusiasm and dedication made not just an impression, but also a real difference to everyone who had the pleasure of working with her. She worked tirelessly with us to deliver a programme that gave our attendees an agenda of experiences and business connections that they would remember forever.

The impact of her work didn’t just stop there though. Her vision of the meetings industry transcended the norm and her belief in Buenos Aires as a leading destination for MICE led to a number of significant collaborations that helped maintain the city’s profile on a global scale.  She was also part of the integral team responsible for the growth and success of Buenos Aires within the meetings industry, helping achieve its status as one of the fastest growing cities in the world for meeting tourism in 2017.

Dr. Diego Sánchez Becchi – Lawyer and Executive Director of Argentinian group Sanchez Becchi, one of the leading organisers of international trade exhibitions and meetings, specialised in organising events in growing and developing markets – also worked closely with Constanza, and told us, ‘I would like to remember her as a very special person who became an angel’.
